Unser Engagement
La Marzocco embodies a “spirit of sustainability in business” by adopting a holistic approach to social and environmental responsibility.
Indeed, our passion for excellence goes beyond crafting the world’s finest espresso machines. Since 2023, we have proudly operated as a Benefit Corporation, a clear expression of our deep commitment to balancing economic performance with a positive impact on people, the planet, and our communities.
This commitment is deeply ingrained in our operations, aligned with our core values and at the heart of our integrated approach to sustainability. We align our practices with international standards to manage operations effectively, measure progress, and ensure accountability, driven by transparent governance and a culture of continuous improvement.
La Marzocco acts responsibly and purposefully. Focusing on People, Planet, Product, and Profit, our sustainability strategy aims to build long-term value and drive meaningful, measurable impact throughout our entire value chain

Environmental Stewardship
We are deeply committed to transforming our business and operating model toward a net-zero greenhouse gas emissions economy. Minimizing our environmental footprint is central to this mission and we commit to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050. We support this goal by using 100% certified green energy at our facility, generating renewable energy through PV panels, and shifting our fleet to electric and hybrid vehicles. Through the GHG Protocol Carbon Footprint calculation, we’ve also identified key „hotspots“ for intervention both upstream and downstream in our value chain, allowing us to target emission reductions more effectively. Furthermore, we promote initiatives like the ConSenso agritech project to help addressing the challenges climate change poses to coffee cultivation, extending our stewardship beyond our direct operations.

“The ultimate goal is to create a huge impact on people, while leaving a minimal footprint on the environment.”
Guido Bernardinelli
People and community
Our people are our greatest asset, and we actively work to develop our processes and structures to ensure employees and collaborators maintain or enhance their security, well-being, and professional development while creating value for the entire community. We strive to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and empowering workplace by promoting fair labor practices, offering comprehensive welfare programs, and investing in continuous professional development.
Integrity and transparency guide every aspect of our operations. This commitment is reinforced by our Organizational Model (MOGC) and Ethical Code. We also prioritize regional partnerships—over 57% of our 2024 supplier spending supported businesses in Tuscany, reinforcing the local economy and fostering shared growth. As an active contributor to the global coffee community, we foster deeper connections through the Accademia del Caffè Espresso, promoting coffee culture and knowledge exchange. We also support impactful initiatives such as the Hands for Songwa Foundation In Tanzania, which delivers social benefits to the local coffee-growing communities.

Circular Products & Resource Efficiency
We are committed to producing high-quality machinery that incorporates sustainability principles. This includes designing products that are durable and can be repurposed, repaired, or recycled, minimizing waste sent to landfill and maximizing resource efficiency.
We embrace circular economy principles through eco-design, extended product life cycles, and responsible end-of-life management. This focus ensures our products are not only built to last but also designed with their entire lifecycle in mind, contributing to a more sustainable and resource-efficient future.
Looking Ahead
Our sustainability journey is ongoing. We are proud of our progress and remain firmly committed to creating long-term value for our employees, partners, customers, and the planet. Together, we are building a future where excellence and responsibility go hand in hand.
Songwa project
In 2007 La Marzocco, Hemro and Probat, three of the leading companies in the coffee industry, gave rise to the no profit project Songwa Estates. It focused on the Songwa plantation as a resource to increase consumer awareness, showing the day-to-day of coffee growing, an activity that lives and thrives at the hands of people that are far away from those who benefit from the processed and finished products.
At the same time the three partners developed the Hands for Songwa initiative, donating part of their profits to improve the local infrastructures – constructing wells, buildings and schools – and to improve the living conditions in the Tanzanian community.
To undertake such a professional and personal journey has proved to be an opportunity to elevate knowledge, make an impact, gain and provide inspiration – all by visiting the plantations and the surrounding villages.
In 2023, this commitment in corporate social responsibility was further structured through the establishment of the Hands for Songwa Foundation, an NGO based in Dar es Salaam, which, while maintaining the mission of the previous project in its statutes, can directly receiving donations and managing them in a transparent and autonomous fashion, and on focusing on long-term projects.
In 2024 La Marzocco has also begun, on a plot of the Songwa plantation, the “ConSenso” project, carried out by the Accademia del Caffè Espresso and PNAT, with the support of Cisco, to study the effects of climate change on coffee plants, threatening the livelihoods of the over 125 million people who make a living from coffee.
